Pursuant to the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, in 2012, the Fund for financing the decommissioning of the Krško NPP undertook to prepare and implement expert activities with which the Croatian side will participate in the upcoming revisions of the Programme for the Decommissioning and Disposal of RW and SNF from the Krško NPP. The Programme for the disposal of RW and SNF from the Krško NPP must be harmonised with the activities establishing the RW Management Centre in the Republic of Croatia and related public relations activities, in accordance with the Radioactive Waste, Disused Sources and Spent Nuclear Fuel Management Strategy and the applicable National Programme for the implementation of the Strategy.
In addition to the cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia in connection with the collection, preservation and increase of funds for financing the Krško NPP Decommissioning Programme and the disposal of RW and SNF from the Krško NPP, the Fund actively cooperates with the IAEA(International Atomic Energy Agency), with which the Government of the Republic of Croatia has harmonised the legislation, and lays the foundations for the licensing of the RW Management Centre in the Republic of Croatia according to the highest EU standards. Also, the Fund cooperates with companies from several EU countries engaged in radioactive waste management activities in various segments of their operation.
